Rotary International celebrates its 111st Birthday

Who are we?

A mixed group from all walks of life

What do we do?

Use our skills and talents to help others less fortunate

Teachers teach, builders build, financiers number crunch, food people do food ………… the list is endless!

Rotary International celebrates its 111st birthday and began in Chicago in 1905.  It was started by a group of men who found themselves working away from their home towns and had the idea of

forming a club where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form  long life friendships.  Rotary’s name came from the early practice of rotating meetings between the offices of each of its members.  As Rotary grew, members pooled their resources and used their talents to serve their communities. The organisation's dedication to this ideal is best expressed in its motto: Service Above Self.

Today we have 1.2 million   men and women members in over 200 countries.  Rotary continues to respond to the ever-increasing demands of a complex world whilst retaining its strong foundation principles.
